What is chiropractic care?
Most people may think of chiropractic care and associate that with a sore neck or an aching back. Chiropractic care offers opportunities for wellness by facilitating the healing of disorders of the nervous system and/or musculoskeletal system. By focusing care on spinal manipulation and treatment of the surrounding structures, there are a multitude of different conditions that chiropractic care can treat. With the spine acting as the bridge between the mind and body, and understanding how it serves as a vital pathway of communication for our body's processes, chiropractors work to correct these "miscommunications" that occur and the consequent symptoms they produce. To see if chiropractic care may be of benefit to you, view our listing of symptoms we treat.

Treatment Options
Just as each body is unique and different, so are the various forms of treatment available and how they work together to become your treatment plan. For information on different treatments and therapies, see the information below.
The ProAdjuster serves as chiropractic’s next step forward combining technology and treatment consistency with a safe and gentle approach. The ProAdjuster utilizes a hand held probe with sensor which, along with many other capabilities, has the ability to scan and compare the “move-ability” or “immovability” of a vertebral segment against that of a normal or healthy vertebral segment. The results are displayed onto a computer screen with treatment options.
The doctor selects the best treatment option with the help of the Pro-Adjuster’s calculated suggestion. The ProAdjuster utilizes a precise oscillating force with uninterrupted motion to move spinal segments and remove interferences on the body’s nervous system. Much like a wood-peckers ability to create large amounts of change with multiple oscillating movements, the ProAdjuster can create dramatic changes in the human spine with multiple calculated movements. The ProAdjuster is an amazing break-through technology with the ability to safely and affectively treat body-types ranging from toddlers to the elderly. No “twisting” or “cracking” involved is involved with the ProAdjuster! For more information visit www.proadjusterlifestyle.com.

The Manual technique (Diversified Technique) is the more traditional “hands-on” approach to treating dysfunctions in the musculo-skeletal system. Using x-ray analysis, postural and orthopedic examination, and spinal palpation the doctor determines the underlying cause of the patient’s condition. In this technique to doctor uses his/her hands to treat the patient using high velocity, low amplitude adjustments to correct the specific dysfunctional segment. Ultrasound is a form of heat therapy which is extremely affective in treating the soft-tissues (muscle, ligament, tendon). Sound waves (not audible to human ear) act to massage these deep tissues, breaking up adhesions in the muscle and pushing swelling out of the tissues, allowing them to return to their normal state and function. This type of therapy is great for nagging shoulder, hip, and knee conditions as well as spine related injuries.
Cold Laser Therapy is a great example of a known technology being altered and used and in a new way. Cold laser is a powerful treatment, having the ability to reach deeper than 2 inches into the body’s surface! The therapy aims to target the mitochondria, which is the cell’s “power house” energy producing component. Cold laser can be used to speed the function of the mitochondria, resulting in increased blood flow and quicker healing. This therapy is great for injuries to areas which are not fast healing (ligaments and tendons), for post surgical patients, for burns, for athletes, and for the elderly.
Electrical Stimulation Therapy is utilized by patient’s with muscular dysfunctions’ which are inhibiting the correct range of motion or level of pain conducive for the patient to heal properly. Electrodes (pads) are placed around the target area by the doctor to zero in on specific nerves which supply the dysfunctional muscles. A small amount of pain-free electrical current is run through the electrodes to reduce pain and increase range of motion with mild soothing heat. This therapy is great for patients with tight musculature, stiffness, and in muscle spasms.
Rehabilitation and conditioning are key elements to the healthy person. In fact the first 6 weeks following an injury are the most crucial for healing correctly! If rehabilitation is not done correctly in this time period the patient runs the risk of significantly increasing the probability of life long problems to the injured area. No matter the age, and whether it is a sports injury, car accident, or surgery, rehabilitation is taken seriously at Olson Chiropractic. Less recognizable but equally problematic, daily micro-traumas are absorbed by the body through out life. Posture in the workplace, while driving, and while sleeping can have significant negative affects on the body as the months and years go by.
